Honor Matt's Retirement by Supporting the Matt Baughman Scholarship Endowment Fund

Honor Matt's hard work, dedication, and loyalty to SIU over the past 25+ years and support the Matt Baughman Scholarship Endowment Fund.

A lead gift from Ed Smith and Ullico will establish the Matt Baughman Scholarship Endowment that will make an impact on SIU students who are involved with the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.

Matt spent just over 15 years at the Institute, serving as the institute’s assistant, associate and interim director and participating in a number of meaningful initiatives, including: reaching Senator Simon’s goal of a $10 million endowment; traveling on a 2001 Mission Trip to Cuba; coordinating Simon’s 2003 funeral; ensuring the legacy of the university’s first African American male student; and serving as point person for the institute’s many notable guests such as Barbara Bush, Walter Cronkite and Coretta Scott King. He has done so much for SIU, by leading through times of unrest, conflict, grief, and change.
