Roger J. Missavage, a longtime professor at Southern Illinois University, passed away at the age of 71 on Saturday, November 20, 2021.  Roger was the Director of the Computer Assisted Instruction & Research Laboratory in the College of Engineering for 29 years.

“A light-hearted soul easy to share a laugh. A generous gardener sharing produce and trees. Looking to help friends fix houses or software. A loyal supporter of Saluki teams and everything SIUC Engineering. An everyday fan of Southern Illinois history, natural beauty, and diverse and friendly people. Someone who worked hard and enjoyed volleyball, outdoor sports, and indoor games. Very proud of his nephews and siblings. Fond of bragging on and encouraging family and friends. Roger is missed.” Dr. Frances Harackiewicz, SIUC

"Roger was a very competent Engineer. Registered as a Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois, Roger ably served Southern Illinois University for several decades. He will be missed by all, students and friends whose lives he touched.”  Dr. Shashi Lalvani, Miami Ohio University

In memory of their brother, Dennis Missavage ‘68 and Gene & Arlene Liss have established the Roger J. Missavage Endowed Fund for Engineering Education.  Thanks to Dennis, Gene & Arlene, and the entire Missavage family, Roger’s legacy will help cover IT technological needs and support the mission of the Engineering Customer Service Center (ECSC) in the SIU College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, & Mathematics.  This established fund will provide annual financial support for maintenance and upgrade of IT equipment, software, and technological tools and offering of IT services within the college.
