In memory of Professor William Eichfeld, Civil Engineering has established the William (Bill) Eichfeld Fund to honor his legacy by supporting initiatives of Civil Engineering created in his name.
William (Bill) Eichfeld was a respected colleague, beloved friend, and one of the best professors at SIUC. Professor William F. Eichfeld, passed away on January 8, 2021 at the Carbondale Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He served SIUC with distinction for almost 40 years and Bill's passing is a big loss for the School of CEIE and SIUC. During his tenure, he was the most respected professor by our students, faculty, and staff, and was named Outstanding Teacher of Civil Engineering several times. He has left big shoes to fill, and he will be missed. Professor Eichfeld will be remembered for his dedication to our students, calm personality, and signature tie.
