Saluki Formula Racing Team 2018

Help fund the Saluki Formula Racing Team!!!

We are a group of dedicated students that design, build, and race a high-performance Formula 1 style race car. We compete against universities from around the world in the Formula SAE collegiate design challenge. This year our team is building an entirely new race car to take to the competition in Lincoln Nebraska on June 19, 2019.

Our team provides many rewarding experiences to our members. We take students from a variety of backgrounds such as; mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive technology, finance, supply chain management, and zoology. We teach students the fundamentals of how performance race cars operate, along with providing them the opportunity to learn hands-on manufacturing skills.

Saluki Formula Racing prides itself on being a group that gives back to the community. We routinely attend open houses and recruiting events to help promote the University. We also spend our weekends attending local car shows to help get community members interested in some of the programs offered to students at SIU. You can also find us volunteering by working the concession stands at the SIU football games.

We are looking forward to competing this year. For many of our members, this will be the first time attending the competition. We anticipate having a reliable high-performance vehicle for the competition this year. We are preparing our members to make quick adjustments and fixes to the car so that they will have the skills to overcome any challenge thrown at them this year. Even though we are competing against many large and well-developed programs such as Missouri S&T, Ohio State, and Texas A&M, we believe that we will truly show them what SIU is made of.

Though we enjoy making the car and competing against other colleges, our real purpose is to provide an environment where students can come together, learn, and above all have fun.

So how can you help? You can choose to donate and support our group. All the money needed to send our group to competition and build our car come from fundraisers like this. Without enthusiastic donors like yourself, we would not be able to give students all of these wonderful experiences. The money that we are raising will go towards the cost of attending the competition, transporting the team to the competition, buying new parts for the race car, and manufacturing some of our custom components. So find your wallets and donate to the team today!!!  Remember that all of your donations are tax deductible.

$50

Nuts and Bolts

Every nut and bolt is important to this team because without one the car will fall apart. Your donation will help hold the team together.

$150

Everyday Part

These donations will help us buy everyday parts of the car that most may overlook. These include steering wheel, brake lines, brake lights, headrest, radiator, and fuel tank.

$250

Keep Us Safe

Safety equipment is expensive but necessary! Donations of this level will help us purchase new helmets, racing suits, seatbelts, and fire protection layers.

$500

Specialized Part

We are updating every part on this year's car. As a result, we must raise money for specialized parts such as shocks, steering rack, and brake calipers. This level of donation will make these purchases possible.

$750

Shipping the car

Attending competition is expensive. A donation of this level would pay the fees to transport our car to competition.

$1,500

Heart of the Car

Donations of this level are held in high regards. Not only would you be special to our team but we would be able to invest in a new engine for our vehicle.
